Going Beyond the Future

We believe that looking beyond our current capabilities is essential. We strive for new technologies, methods of manufacture and exploring new ideas; it is imperative for the continuing success of both MEP Ltd and advanced manufacturing and engineering.

On top of our internal Research and Development program we feel involvement in innovation projects is critical to our success, helping us to understand the challenges our industry faces and then work together on solutions that meet, or better exceed, those needs.

AEPEC - Aerospace Electrical Propulsion Equipment, Controls

Safran Power UK is working with its supply chain risk sharing partners on all aspects of electrical power systems and energy usage on future technology aircraft. Scope covers Generation, Control, Starter-Generator function and electrical actuation for More Electric Aircraft, and variants in Regional Jets, Biz Jets and advanced Rotorcraft.

MEGCAP - More Electronic Generation and Controls for Aircraft Power Network

MEGCAP aims to re-invent the thermal management of the interior of aircraft starter-generator electrical machines. Project outputs will be equipment and products with higher efficiency, lower self-heating – leading to cooler and smaller equipment. The project will also advance the control electronics.

AEMTA - Advanced Electrical Machines Technologies for Aircraft

The six partners in this collaborative InnovateUK sponsored project worked well together to develop the next generation of Advanced Electrical Machines Technologies for Aircraft.

NATEP - National Aerospace Technology Exploitation Programme

The National Aerospace Technology Exploitation Programme, sponsored by Birmingham City Council and Finance Birmingham, and facilitated through the Farnborough Aerospace Consortium, is a £40m Technology Development Programme derived From a Bid by the Aerospace Growth Partnership to the Government’s Advanced Manufacturing Supply Chain Initiative.

Within the NATEP programme MEP Ltd is the lead partner, along with Jackson Designs focusing on the Automated Manufacture of Slot Liners for a major Aerospace Customer.

MEP Ltd is also participating as a funded partner in the projects led by Adhesion Technologies (www.adhesion tec.com ) developing new and innovative methods of joining composite structures.
