MEP participates in the UKCES consultation - November 2009

In September 2009 I was asked by the UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES) to participate in the Windsor Castle Consultation on supporting the growth of leadership and management skills in enterprising businesses.  The consultation took place on the 3rd and 4th of November 2009.  I was selected due to the excellent training and development MEP has carried out on our Leadership and management, with the support of Business Link and MAS South East. The consultation was held in the Vicars’ Hall inside Windsor Castle, in the shadow of St. George’s Chapel. The venue itself was stunning, and very conducive to tackling the subject in hand.  Apart from the quite unique setting there were no interruptions – Blackberry’s and iPhones were banned!!  After a working dinner on the Tuesday evening, we were privileged to have a guided tour of the Chapel itself, which was fascinating.  It is the last resting place of a number of monarchs such as Henry VIII, Charles I, and the Queen’s parents to name as few, so the history was extraordinary. The consultation the following day and the discussions generated by the business owner / managers were very interesting indeed, and it was incredible how a group of people who had no prior contact could come together so positively.  Without doubt there were mutually beneficial business relationships formed over the course of the consultation, as well as UKCES achieving their objectives from the event.
